Blacksburg Police Chief Withdraws Resignation

Blacksburg Police Chief Carl Hughey withdrew his resignation Friday after getting assurance from the majority of Town Council that he will have authority over police department personnel.
Council voted 3-2 during an emergency session Friday to accept six provisions from the veteran officer to remain as the department head.
Hughey resigned Thursday to accept a post with the Gaffney Police Department.
